And... if your children are unaccustomed to drinking green things (my kids probably think every smoothie is either green or chocolate), no worries - the chocolate perfectly disguises the spinach. No need to divulge your secret to picky eaters.

If you're new to coconut water, be sure to check it out. Admittedly, this recipe works just as well with plain water, but the extra electrolytes in coconut water give this smoothie its pick-me-up qualities. Combined with iron and chlorophyll from the spinach, it's like getting a blood transfusion!

To make this a raw smoothie, be sure to use raw ingredients, like raw almond butter, raw cocoa, and unpasteurized coconut water.

Ingredients

2 bananas, broken in chunks

2 c raw spinach leaves

1+ c coconut water, chilled

1/4 c Almond Butter

2 Tbsp cocoa powder

2 Tbsp Raw Honey

Handful of ice cubes

Directions

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Add more coconut water if smoothie is too thick.

Serves 2.
